router not arrived posted on the 3rd still at royal mail hub

Hi changed from bt boardband to sky, already a sky tv customer.

the router was posted on the 3rd activation today the 8th.

router seems tobe stuck in royal mail hub.

Is there anyway i can use my old bt router or another router to connect to the internet.

until the new hub arrives>?

No you cant use the BT hub

You can use 3rd party hubs but they need to support DHCP Option 61 which is the authentication method Sky use.

Same here. BT switched off service Wednesday morning, now late Thursday and no sign of Sky router. Will it turn up on Friday, who knows?  Should have stayed with BT. 2 days lost work at home with no WiFi so far, let's see if Sky can make it 3!  The rep who I phoned said it's because of Royal Mail strikes which begs the question, why didn't they use a different courier company????   The rep didn't have an answer to that as she was talking from a script!

I'm fairly sure the posties are on strike again tomorrow (Friday) and two days next week

A fairly large contract has probably been signed with Royal Mail for exclusivity in delivering these items, same with SIM cards.

Thanks Daniel. You're probably right. anyone at Sky with half a brain would have included a get out clause to use a different company in the event of strikes. They can't leave customers hanging out there with no service

The distribution centers will be setup to send via Royal Mail, its not as simple as just saying ah yeah throw it on a DPD van or something. The cost to Sky to arrange for routers to be sent out via different courier for a few days while Royal Mail are striking would be way to high in comparison to the small amount of customers that will be affected by not getting their routers on time.
