Re: "Is this email from Sky genuine re. "An update on your broadband hub"
I have just had a similar email. However it does not say my first name which all other Sky emails show. The fact it includes a link and says you will need your sky details and password to input makes me suspicious so I won't be opening it.

I opened it and ordered the new sky hub, it seems to be genuine.

You are quite right to be cautious as really this isn't the way Sky have gone about getting these hubs replaced but I can confirm having had the same email from Sky and ordering and receiving the new hub, that this email was from Sky if it is the one that was posted earlier in the topic.

Re: where to find details of the new sky hub
So push a firmware update, that sets the admin password to the same Password as the WiFi. Creating e-waste out of perfectly good routers doesn't seem a good idea.

Thank you everyone. I have now successfully ordered a replacement via the link👍
As the equipment is loaned, what happens with the 'old' hub, do we simply dispose of it at recycling centres? Would it hold any sensitive information? Thanks.

I returned mine as it did say when ordering this new one that they wanted the old one back:

Add a note inside with your account number and a list of equipment you have included.
Make sure you get and keep proof of posting when sending this off.

Re: "Is this email from Sky genuine re. "An update on your broadband hub"
Mine didn't. Then again I bought the ER110 as an upgrade when it launched as the SR-102 WiFi could barely keep up with 80Mbit fibre.
The replacement SR203 is on loan and will have to be returned though.

Got an email saying I need to replace my hub.
I am wonderiong if it is a scam. See below.
An update on your broadband hub
Hello,
At Sky we are always looking to bring the latest innovative technology to our customers. As we do this, we’re always making improvements to our infrastructure to enhance both its reliability and performance.
In 2022, the UK government published a new security framework to make the UK’s telecommunications infrastructure more resilient.
In line with government guidance, we wanted to let you know while your hub continues to keep you connected to the internet, it will stop receiving service and security updates on the 31 December 2025. To review your options, including how to update or change your hub, visit our portal here. You’ll need to have your Sky ID and password ready to log in.
Thank you for continuing to choose Sky
Regards Dave

Re: "Is this email from Sky genuine re. "An update on your broadband hub"
Hi Everyone
There has been some confusion on another social media site that you can't switch on/off Sky Broadband Shield when you upgrade your router. I want to make sure that everyone knows this is incorrect, you can make the same changes as you've been able to do before 😀

Re: "Is this email from Sky genuine re. "An update on your broadband hub"
Hi
I received the same email. This is 100% a scam. I called Sky customer services there and they confirm it is not genuine. This email does not appear in my received messages within the app or my online portal. The email does not include my name or account number and is asking me to use an external link.
The people who are erroneously stating the email is genuine are either innocently mistaken, or bad actors.
