openreach missed third appointment to lay the fibre
Openreach asked me to dig the garden so they could lay the fibre. This was a week earlier than the appointment. Cheeky, I know,, but the engineer convinced me that they can get up and running with Fibre on the same day. So I spent an hour and uncovered the conduit with the existing older copper telephone wire. I would have used the unused copper to pull the fibre as it was only a five metres from the street.
However, OpenReach discovered an obstruction - probably at the bend(joint) . Since then OpenReach make calls setup appointments and don't show or leave a message and I have spent three days 'hanging around' and there's a fairly deep hole..
Can someone in Sky escalate the matter or terminate the contract?
My background/degree (1986)is in Telecoms/Networks. whilst I designed and delivered secure comms for the UK and NATO, my company - GEC Plessey delivered the optical backbones for China in 1988 to grow from a poor country to what it is today, while the UK sadly reversed its lead in the world. Sad but true and I write avout this on LinkedIn

Re: openreach missed third appointment to lay the fibre
Openreach shouldnt be asking you to do that. Often if specialist teams are required to complete a job it can seem like a endless time for waiting for updates then further delay, then waiting for updates again.
If you are unhappy with the delay you can cancel without penalty at any point

Re: openreach missed third appointment to lay the fibre
Thanks, The OpenReach people said that they turned up and our two doorbells don't work and that if we saw an OpenReach van that I should approach them. They eventualy turned up un-announced and left without any instruction and we saw a fibre cable loop and presumed that it was connected at the street level. Perhaps these are the labourers. The Openreach Engineer who then installed the fibre was exactly the opposite - contacting me prior and half an hour before his arrival and asked me where to put the ONT box and I helped route the wire underneath the house and he installed the Sky Box and made sure everything was working before he left. OpenReach need more mature professionals. Still better than Virgin media and O2 and miles better than EE, but not surprising that it is owned by BT

EE has been part of BT Group since 2016. BT is currently transferring its domestic broadband to EE branding.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
