new fibre and router question
Hi guys, i am having sky fibre 500 installed in a month and at the moment i have normal broadband and using my own tplink vr2800 as this has guest network as we have partys and this then disables anyone accesing my media network and google speakers..
Currently my house phone connects to the phone line socket and broadband runs from that to my tplink router to which works flawlessly and has never let me down...
Sky are going to be changing to their router sky hub 2.4 and then the phone will have to be connected to this hub....
Is there any routers out there which can replace this one and has a quest feature which i can use instead of the sky hub...
Thanks in advance..

Re: new fibre and router question
@okeytheone You have NO choice but to use the Sky supplied hub as it is the ONLY way to have the phone connected on the Digital circuit, Double NAT or AP mode your Tp-Link what ever it supports, so go download the manual for that router and see what option works with what method!
Would use router mode, and wan connect the Tp-Link to the Lan off the SR203 hub 4.2 you are going to get, if it was me, and see if any double nat's have issues WHICH will not be many.

Re: new fibre and router question
@okeytheone Yes that would be about right you will just have to set the wan out a network connection port instead of the DSL currently, reason i said to go get the tp-link manual, sure it can be set that way for router operation. Sky hub takes care off all the connection side to the ONT and onwards.

Re: new fibre and router question
Below is what is listed in my manual, I take it this is the way to do it then..
"4. 5. 1. Wireless Router ModeIf you already have a modem or your internet comes via an Ethernet jack on the wall, you can set up the modem router as a regular wireless router to share the internet. 1. 2. Find the WAN port (labeled as LAN4/WAN) on the modem router, and connect it to your existing modem or the Ethernet jack on the wall. Then connect the power adapter and turn on the modem router. If you connect an existing modem, reboot it to get the modem router connected to the internet.Connect your computer to the modem router. For details, refer to Connect Your Modem Router"

Re: new fibre and router question
@okeytheone Use the Already have a modem option, and change the operation with regards to it in the tp-Link setup procedure.

Re: new fibre and router question
Hi guys. I have had it installed now amd could do with a bit of help.
I have got the router in wireless router mode and connected an Ethernet cable from the lan port on the sky router and the other end to the wan on the tp link router....
I could only get Internet by changing the settings in the internet options to dynamic iP on the tplink......this seems to work but I seem to have issues with all my Google speakers as these don't seem to connect properly at all...can't seem to see speakers via YouTube music or any streaming app.
All this worked before as I was using the dsl on the router but like I've said I've had to upgrade to fibre...
Could you advise if possible please

Re: new fibre and router question
@okeytheone If you are keeping the Sky hub in place, then DO NOT have the tp-link in router mode!
