full fibre - what disruption and what does the router look like

I have been offered full fibre. What does a router look like; Size, weight, orientation, power supply, so I can if I have space. And were do I plug phone the telephone. Will they need to run a new cable into the house. Will they make a mess or make it look untidy / ugly.

The router is either a Sky Broadband Hub, Sky Max Hub or Sky Gigafast+ Hub (on CityFibre infrastructure)

There also needs to be an Optical Network Terminal: that's a separate, wall-mounted device.

Details of all this hardware can be found online.

Into the rear of the Sky Hub.

Yes, an optical fibre.

They typically make every attempt to do a neat job within the time constraints of any individual installation.

@basingDave this page https://www.sky.com/help/articles/set-up-hub-which-sky-hub-do-you-have shows the various different Sky hubs. You will get the Sky Max Hub or the Sky Broadband hub which are physically the same size unless you are buying yhr new Gigafast+ service which has its own router . Of course any WiFi router is designed to be placed out in the open on a surface not wall mounted or placed in a cupboard. The units do have a small external power supply integrated into the plug.

This page https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/full-fibre-broadband-installation-checklist#accordion-b43... shows what is involved in an Openreach fibre installation with a picture of a typical ONT unit they fit internally. Sky provide a 1.5m ethernet cable to link the ONT to the hub but that can be replaced with a longer cable if you want. The ONT also has a power supply integrated into its mains plug.
