Since switching to sky broadband i noticed that my ethernet ports on the sky router werent running at gigabit speeds and after many hours trawling the internet i found the posts on here about the sky q mini boxes affecting the ports. I turned off all my sky q minis and sure enough my router ethernet ports where back up to gigabit speed and everything was working as it should. Once I turn them back on after a few seconds everything drops back down to 100Mbps speed. So clearly its the sky q mini boxes. (the router is still set to gigabit speed)
i tried connecting them all using a wired connection and turning off the wifi. I tried changing the 5ghz channel on the mini boxes from the engineer menu, even using different cables. Everything i can think of.
i had no problem when i was on BT fibre for three years. all the gigabit ethernet ports worked fine with the sky q minis.
has anyone found a solution? my main sky q box is an original 2tb. Is it worth trying to get the new sky q hdr box? or is a third party router my only option??

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more3rd party router is your only option, Sky Q boxes do something weird with the Sky routers which kills ethernet speeds.

The mini boxes dont have gigabit ethernet enabled. the new 1 and 2tb boxes do. I have a hub 4.2 and it appears it has been recently software updated and the WiFi speeds are now awful.
The Hub 4.2 has always been hit and miss but as all of my Q boxes are wired i shall be turning off Wifi this weekend off everthing and have a linksys velop system ready to go in to deal with WiFi.
