Xbox Series X and SR213 router

Hi folks. Ive got the latest router from sky (SR213) and its connected via a switch with ethernet to my Xbox. I have tried many times but the NAT is still moderate. Any idea if/when sky will unlock the router to enable port forwarding etc?? I cannot see an option for UPNP and the xbox is reporting this isnt on anyway.

Thanks in advancve

@Jamie+B85 You can set up port forwarding on the SR213 the settings are in the My Sky app.

Re: Xbox Series X and SR213 router

For anyone else wondering, port forwarding did nothing to open my NAT up, I ended up putting the Xbox in the DMZ. Restarted the Xbox fully and all is well again.

@Jamie+B85 assume you are aware of the security issues with bypassing the hub's firewall by using the DMZ?

Issues with NAT type should not require any settings changes on a Sky hub which by default support Teredo. Apparently you can get NAT issues where older xboxes are on the same network.

Don't muddy the waters.  DMZ is fine for Xbox.

@Fearitself

Saying its 'fine' is naive. Granted its less of a risk than putting a PC in the DMZ but its still a risk and should not be a long term solution, only part of testing.

Re: Xbox Series X and SR213 router

Thanks for that but there are no other Xbox's on the network. Even with portforwarding I couldn't get a open NaT. Appreciate there are risks but for now the positives outweigh the negatives.

You will be fine on console. Just don't put your pc in the dmz. I've had an Xbox in the dmz since 2004

I too work in networking on behalf of fritzbox EU. I used to

Install ntl broadband from two thousand four/two thousand seven. A console in the dmz is safe, a pc on the other hand is not. That's all I'm saying

The required port forwarding port is reported on the Xbox in settings for the network the default is 3074 but it can be different, so check you have forwarded the correct port number as reported on the Xbox network settings if different from 3074 UDP & TCP.

Re: Xbox Series X and SR213 router

Upnp should be enabled by default in the sky router. If you have more than 1 Xbox then one or more of your xboxs will have a strict NAT even with upnp enabled. In this case you would need to resolve your issue in the Xbox settings (do for each Xbox)  1. Go to settings in Xbox. 2. Network settings. 3. Advanced settings. 4. Alternative port selection. 5. Select any port that is not port 3074.  After this, test your network type in the network settings of the Xbox. It should be open.
