Hi there, I'm in Ireland.
FTTH to available to me with speeds upto 500MB/s and 1GB/s.
I wish to upgrade to FTTH with Sky. I currently have Sky Broadband Superfast (Yeah, "superfast" is apparently max 27MB/s).
I'm assuming that I have old copper phone line cables coming from the street to my house.
Will a Sky engineer upgrade any wires coming from the street to my home, and upgrade cables within my home?
And will I get a new Sky FTTH Internet box?
I tried asking Sky via Twitter over a period of two days and I was going around in circles.
Thanks.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Anonymous you will have to check with Sky Ireland but Sky use the SIRO network for fibre. If its available SIRO or Sky will run a fibre connection to your home and install an Optical Network Termination box internally and link the two by a fibre pigtail run through the wall . Sky will have sent you a SR203 hub which links to the ONT by ethernet.
The speed you get atvthe hub will be the speed you buy as distance is no longer a factor.

Worth knowing that Siro in Eire use a different deployment method to Openreach in the UK: they are working in partnership with the national electricity supplier (ESB) and bring optical cable along power lines and in at the meter box.

Actavo knocked on the door today and said they were attaching new fibre cable for a Virgin Media engineer to install. They asked if I had received my installation date, but I told them no and that I'm a Sky customer. They said they looked after the network for Sky too, so they would attach it anyway. Wondering if Sky are rolling out installations like that and I should expect to receive an installation date, or were Actavo just mistaken?
