Wifi unreliable, especially with MS Teams calls - max hub + pods - want my old router or cancel all

hi

After more than 10 years with sky, i renewed my contract and also got the white hub., on 150mbs

Now i'm really annoyed as this router is really bad, i do regular MS teams call, and i get frequently frozen for 2s through the day.

When speaking in a one to one, this week i even lost audio for few seconds.

The wifi is REALLY unstable and i deem the router as not fit for purpose.

- can i get my previous black router ?

- can i cancel my contract (which has been renewed again not long ago)

I seriously want to switch to another provider, probably Virgin. All i want is a reliable wifi router.

History and context:

- one floor connectivity, standard usage of internet. Need more reliability than speed.

- have 150mbs which is plenty, after switching to the white router i paid for the PODS (they sell really well with the white router....) and this didn't bring any improvement in terms of wifi reliability

- had 2 wifi engineer visit, we played with pods, where one btw stopped working after few weeks (not great for something new)

-switched from WPA3T to spa2 no difference.

- just today i found my mobile showing 30mbs speed i saw wifi was showing 2.4Ghz, and then the mobile switched to 5Ghz.
That confirm that there are wifi issue.
Also we can't easily force or allow 5ghs only (white router is for newbiw as the app doesn't allow you to do much)

- what really **bleep** me off is i hae regular meeting where i'm frozen and miss the conversation, happens multiple times a day, that is inacceptable. i was given the advice to make wired connection for WFH, sorry i don't like cable and it's not practical to me.
I had no issues before with any router, it's just the white router which doesn't work well. i have the speed but the wifi is not reliable. i was looking youtube and the video buffered. website slowdowned...

-IPv6 is enabled, noticed it didn't help others to disable.

- PODS don't provide improvement to me. i'm looking to see if i can return them, i'm keeping one for a doorbell in case it helps but my mobiles are also good outside so not a real need

-i don't want to upgrade to more speed i don't need it, price just keep hiking while the service is getting worst with a router for newbies with no management/customisation allowed

-the Wifi Max hub is potentially faster than the older hubs but doesn't have a greater range. i call this a regression as range is the most important things for me.

-the engineer confirmed that in the room i work my signal is excellent in terme of range that i don't even need a 2nd pod that i had added. it's really router wifi which is the issue

This happens even after i removed TV and cameras cable like i have plenty of bandwith or no interference.

THe only thing which worked is someone who disabled the wifi and bough his own 200£ mesh system, it works but that's not what we customers of sky want....

If sky couldn't fix that from the backend after a year with firmware upgrade, which i assume happens during nights, then i'm not sure what i expect.

Conclusion : can i easily get my older black router back without interruption of service?

can i get out of my contract as the new router is not suitable for WFH and wifi is unreliable?

i have been quite fond of sky for years as my needs were simple and it just worked but now it's just unacceptable, wifi is the primary need now.

Thanks

@NaveedZ

You can cancel WiFi max during your cooling off period which should return you to your old black router.

Alternatively you could get out of your Sky broadband contract completely during the minimum term if you wanted.
