Wifi dropping out and fluctuating speeds

It would appear, based on a number of similar posts in recent days, that there's an issue here with Sky Broadband dropping connections, or slowing down to levels so low as to be useless.

 

Does anybody know what's going on?  I first started seeing this towards the beginning of the month.  I've spoken to Sky Broadband support who told me it's because I have too many devices connected to my network.  Nonsense.  It's the same number I've had connected to my broadband for years and I've never experienced connectivity issues like this.   

 

Colleagues at home have remarked that my usually super robust home broadband suddenly looks very flaky.  I tend to agree!

 

Anyone have any idea what to do?  Is this waiting for the boffins to issue a patch?

I think you are underestimating how many customers Sky have and how many people come to this forum for help. There is always a good handful of posts everyday about broadband issues from different people because Sky have hundreds of thousands of customers, there is always going to be a line issue somewhere.

 

What you are experiencing is likely unique to your line or setup and nothing to do with any wider outage of which there currently is not one.

This is happening to me. An engineer told me the old hubs are not man enough. I asked for a new hub and I was sent exactly the same model. I was told I must have made changes and that you get get a hub that guarantees connection but at an extra cost. The equipment sky have sent me should be good enough for the job, if not send me updated hub.

Things seem to have gone back to normal now.  Fingers crossed it was just anamoly.  

 

I take the point about there being a lot of Sky Broadband customers.  A mark of a good value for money service, which has been my experience since I jumped across from my previous provider a few months ago.
