Wifi dropouts, buffering and lag with the new Sky max hub wifi 6 router

Since being offered an upgrade to the Sky max hub (wifi 6) router a couple of months ago I've had nothing but trouble. Streaming internet radio through smart speakers is particularly bad. Constant dropouts, lag between two linked speakers., and buffering issues make it them unusable.  Spotify is even worse.

Speakers can be located in the same room as the router or in different rooms but have the same issues.

I found the two linked speakers were using differnet wifi frequencies but have forced them both to the 2.4Ghz band by changing the settings in the router. Still no resolution.

Anybody got similar issues or a workaround?

As a side note. I had to install a wifi Sky extender to gain more coverage in the house (which wasnt the case with the old router) and have systematically disconnected all my other wifi devices leaving only the speakers in play and a couple of smart lightbulbs.

Thanks for the response JimM1.

Yes - I've been into the wifi settings and the wpa is set to default which is a moderate rated security level.

Since posting here I've been in touch with sky and having tested my setup remotely they are sending out an engineer to have a look.

If there is any resolution to the wifi probs I will post it here.

@SGRAHAM1 If it is on Wpa3-T or Wpa3 they may be unsuitable for operation and WPA2-PSK would be the way to go!
