Wifi Poor in other rooms
Hi, we got persuaded to leave our current supplier to go back to Sky and was "promised" a better connection.
This has been the opposite, in my Office above i am getting 20Mbs (300Mbs is the package).
It sometimes drops or freezes when on my work laptop.
I have tried resetting router, bought Extenders and still no change, i have wasted so much money in trying to get what i am actually paying for and then when i called up i was told to by a Booster and pay an extra £8 a month, just because they could not supply me for what i paid for in the first place.
When i said i may as well just leave and go back to previous supplier they had the attitude of "OK then bye".
I have now gone past the probation period as i believed it would get better, restarting the router cures it for about a day then back to square one.
Really not happy with the attitude of this and also felt pushed into getting the sale in the first instance when the Customer Services got us onboard and then said they would contact to see how its going and never did even when we chased several times

Re: Wifi Poor in other rooms
Sky provide you with a line connection & a WiFi router, they have no obligation to promise certain speeds across your home unless you take an addon package (boost or max) which specifically defines this. The speed you pay for is the line speed which is usually obtained by using an ethernet cable, Sky are in no way 'not providing what you pay for' just because you only get 30mbps in your office.
You would either need to use an ethernet cable, take out broadband boost/WiFi max or purchase your own router/mesh system to improve the WiFi speeds.
Myself & Others offer our time to help others, please be respectful.

Yes it is when the person on the phone actually states you will "definitely" have better WIFI just so they can get the sale, did you fully read my message?

Re: Wifi Poor in other rooms
You need to appreciate the difference between "internet connection" and "Wi-Fi".
I was with Virgin Media 5+ years and currently with Sky but never had much confidence in ISP free routers to cover Wi-Fi to every corner of property.
Instead of paying any ISP monthly extra for what they only gurantee abour 25Mbs, I would rather spend some cash on my on Wi-Fi mesh. I currently have a TP-Link Deco that cost me £129 and does a amazing job. It may sound like a lot but I used the £80 gift card I got for joining Sky.
300Mbs is a sweet spot for most household, but some people fall into the trap that if I get Gigafast speed then Wi-Fi will improve . I have managed on Virgin Media on 135Mbs for a full 18m contract but only with my own hardare.
This is my property layout and I work from home from kitchen table. The free Sky router provided very weak Wi-Fi at kitchen table.
You can see in the 2nd picture, the black Sky router in rear and my TP-Link Deco. BTW the Deco can be used with any ISP if you left Sky in future.
Would I recommend Sky to my family/mates....yes but with own mesh 😉
