WiFi sketchy at night only

I WFH most days, and the WIFI never causes me any issues until late at night when watching Prime or Netflix or Disney through my Sky + box. I check the WiFi via my Sky app every time it happens and it always says it's fine. I don't believe it's the router because the WIFI is fine at all other times other than when watching TV late at night. I can binge watch a series on a weekend without issue until around 11pm when it becomes glitchy.  It's driving me batty!

Anybody else had the same issues at night only?

@MGee1 the most likely cause of wifi connectivity late at night is increased interference from other electrical equipment and most likely from neighbours' networks. Streaming video is particularly vulnerable to interference as while the stream can cope with some loss of data go above that level the stream buffers or stops all together the so called digital cliff .Ethernet cables totally avoid this problem.

If your devices are relatively far from the hub they are likely to be relying on the slower but longer range 2.4GHz band which only has room for 3 or at most 4 networks before interference starts. A lot of other wireless kit like wireless speakers, head phones etc use the same frequencies which causes more issues. The so,ution is to improve your home's network so devices can use the 5GHz band which has more space and shorter range so interference is less of an issue. Sky offer a bundle called WiFi Max which can supply up to 3 pods which can help but a lot depends on the layout and type of construction of your home. The closer you are to your neighbours the worse the issue which makes flats a particukar problem.

Re: WiFi sketchy at night only

Thanks for the advice. I live in a detached house so don't think the neighbours are the issue. I also live alone so while there are devices connected - phone, laptop, tv, Alexa etc - there aren't a huge amount of WiFi enabled connected devices in the house which is why this is so frustrating. If I thought it would help to remove all devices from the net when watching telly at night, I would do so, but also feel this is overkill for a WiFi signal that it fine during the day. I don't want to be paying any more than I have to so am not keen to be exploring other devices, but will consider moving to another WiFi provider to see if that assists.
