WiFi on phone and ring very poor
I've recently gone for fibre 300 from standard. But the WiFi is worse than before, the ring camera and door bell don't show cameras (says lost connection), the WiFi to mobile phones is shocking, have to put it in aeroplane mode and back on for the WiFi to connect. It's overall very poor. I have 2 pods already.
has anyone else had this? I'm thinking about cancelling and going back to the old copper wire internet
Thanks

Re: WiFi on phone and ring very poor
@RichF1 When you upgraded from copper to fibre, did the sky hub move position by much.
Take it that you still have the sky hub that was all working before, and if so was it the Sky Broadband Hub. See the link below to check then/now!

Re: WiFi on phone and ring very poor
Moved about 5m into a more open position. Old Hub has been sent back. I have to close apps and reopen them on numerous devices to get the WiFi working, and even then it's slow. The sky app says WiFi is "good" but it's not unfortunately.
The ring app below has never done this, all apps and devices are connected correctly. When I try open YouTube it just spins blank black and takes a good 15 seconds to come on.
surely this isn't right?

@RichF1 What is the RSSI value that the ring reports back, you did or did not upgrade to sky Max at the same time and get the white hub!

All between RSSI 55-60. It's the white Max Hub I have.

Re: WiFi on phone and ring very poor
@RichF1 you should not be hsving issues with Rung devices if they are reporting those values however one explanation is that your pods are poorly positioned so they have marginal connections to the hub but are in range iof the Ring devices.
The pods need to be placed carefully roughly half way between the hub and the area needing the boosted speed. The hub and pods use a 5GHz signal for backhaul so if you have solid internal walls you may have a dead spot where one or the other are currently placed. If you have an older property the WiFi Max system is possibly not the best solution.
Once Openreach switch a line from partial fibre to full, fibre they will not allow sale of a new partial fibre connection not matter the ISP however your issue is not with the technology of the broadband connection but rather with Sky's hub/pod WiFi.

Re: WiFi on phone and ring very poor
Liam like the router is the problem. The walls aren't thick and the ring camera is about 3m away from the router so there shouldn't be an issue at all.

Re: WiFi on phone and ring very poor
@RichF1 Until i got my ring down to -40db's area, then it was slow, dodgey are just that little bit on the flakey side, AND it should not have been as the reading's like yours were in the mid60's. Sorted now and been working for years with NO connection issues!
You also should have a look on the Sky Max hub see what the WPA is set at, ring will definitely like wpa2-psk way better!
Also worth taking a quick look at your Broadband Shield settings on your account!
Ring low RSSI!

Re: WiFi on phone and ring very poor
@JimM1 & @RichF1 I find my relatively new Ring doorbells are more sensitive mine reads -55dBm with no issues and well in the green (the colour of the text indicates health)
@RichF1 if your house has thick walls the Sky WiFi Max is not the best solution as I found myself I get better results with my older Deco system where the units communicate using both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The Sky system was developed in the US where homes are typically wood framed.

Re: WiFi on phone and ring very poor
@Chrisee Same got a tripple glazed door to get through, then a heavy wooden interior front door with a 2' internal, then about 15' to the AP, just too weak, sorted by WPA4220 poweline in between the doors, and that took care off the ring!
