WiFi not working in some areas of the house

We seem to have some areas in our house where the WiFi is so bad we have to rely on 4g. There are 3 different areas of the house and one of these is right next to the router. Considering the amount we pay, I don't think this should be expected. We even have a booster upstairs which also doesn't seem to do anything.

Sky loans wireless booster hardware free under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of 'Broadband Boost' and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell them except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Inevitably some have leaked onto a certain auction site, but Sky won't offer support with using these.

Confusingly the 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above.

Re: WiFi not working in some areas of the house

Hi

Have you tried testing the wifi speed at different locations around your house using a smart phone app?

I have Speedtest by Ookla, but there are lots of them about.

The situation youve decribed where you have no wifi in certain parts of the house  doesnt sound out of the ordinary, but not having it right next to the router sounds more like a problem with your equipement.

You can use the smart phone app to check if its the equipement thats at fault or if the wifi isnt reaching certain parts of the house.

For those areas where the wifi signal doesnt reach, we use TP-Link powerline adapters to put the wifi into the electrical wiring system. You just need one next to the router and then one at the locations in your house when the wifi doesnt normally reach.

Here's a detailed explanation of how this works from the manufaturer - https://www.tp-link.com/uk/powerline/
