WiFi Max Hub set up with sky glass and sonos
Hi everyone,
I tried setting up my new router last Saturday and got the Sonos speakers hooked up fine, I then added my sky glass and puck and other devices.
Sonos speakers continue to work fine but every other device kept dropping out and TV didn't work at all.
my previous router I split the channels and had my speaker on 2.4 and TVs on 5.
i called sky up and like previous posts I've read got told that they can't advise on splitting channels but directed new toward the my sky app informing me I could do it all through the app now.
can anyone please advise on this as I'm currently in a situation where I either don't use an expensive surround sound set up or I don't watch tv 🤦♂️🤣🙏
thanks in advance

Re: WiFi Max Hub set up with sky glass and sonos
The WiFi Max hub doesn't allow for the 5GHz & 2.4GHz bands to be split or managed seperately. - it's an all or nothing deal with it.
That said, everything should work together ok. Which model(s) of TV & Sonos speaker are you using. As long as there is a strong enough signal and the devices are within range, the hub shouldn't care what devices they are, especially if some or all of them support WiFi 6.

Re: WiFi Max Hub set up with sky glass and sonos
Ok, the Sonos side is interesting to say the least. Looking at https://support.sonos.com/en-gb/article/supported-wifi-modes-and-security-standards-for-sonos-produc...
The Beam soundbar (both gen 1 and gen 2) only support 2.4GHz WiFi, which should be fine - WiFi Max hub supports 2.4GHz, albeit with greater range but reduced bandwidth relative to 5GHz. Play:1 and Sub (gen 1 & 2) both support 5GHz.
The WiFi Max hub is set to WPA3-T out of the box security wise, Only the Beam from your list of Sonos products supports WPA3, effectively forcing all of your other Sonos speakers to go through the Beam for connectivity via the 2.4GHz band (if I've understood Sonos' networking correctly - been a while since I owned any of their speakers). All of your other Sonos speakers only support up to WPA2.
You might get better network performance on your Sonos kit if you set your Max hub to use WPA2 rather than WPA3, allowing the 5GHz speakers (Play:1 and Sub) to talk directly to the hub. If you want to change the security/ecryption standard on your Max hub, open My Sky > Broadband > WiFi settings > Advanbced settings > WiFi security level > change from WPA3-T to WPA2.
This will hopefully enable your Sonos kit to talk on the wider bandwidth 5GHz band, which in turn should hopefully free up additional bandwidth for your TV watching.
Both your Glass TV and Puck are WiFi 6 devices, so both should get more than their fair share of time on the Max's WiFi radios.
