Wi-Fi turns on and off by itself, so I can't use the internet

The Wi-Fi keeps turning on and off by itself, preventing me from using the internet. It's been like this for a 3 weeks now. As soon as I connect to the Wi-Fi, it disconnects immediately. The router I've had for 9 years is getting old, and if possible, I'd like to replace it with a newer model.
