Wi-Fi is far worse than your test indicates

Hi , We have lived at this address for nearly 7 years, we live in a top floor flat , yet our Wi-Fi signal has been terrible thus last year or so. We more often have to switch our devices to 4g for data to load/run.  We pay a tremendous amount for a service which we are beginning to think we can do with out.  If I do not get some noticeable improvement within the next month we shall leave sky and revert to free view tv and a basic broadband package .  Thus is not and idle threat . Please improve your service , now !!

@IW64

Threats will have no impact here as we can't improve the service. You’re not talking to Sky Customer Services. This is a customer based forum where customers try to help other customers.

@IW64 if tge problem is with Wifi rather than the speed to your hub the issue is down to you to solve not Sky or any other ISP. A major issue especially for people who live in flats is interference from neighbour's wifi which can vary day-to-day. Simple steps you can take first is get the best signal from your hub by making u]sure it is as central in your flat as possible, out in the open not under or behind things and do the same with your devices.

Next rebooting your hub will cause it to find the least  congested wifi channel but to be scientific you can download an app,called Wifi Analyzer which will show all wifi networks in range with their signalstrength and channel. A signal on the same or adjacent channel will cause interference if the signal is strong enough.

Hope thst helps.

Thank you Daniel and Chrisee for replying.  Apologies, I've only just realised it was a community platform I was responding to . My rant was directed at Sky.

thank you for your advice which I shall try.

my point was that , as a block of 12 flats , we have replaced everything in the to improve the system for all. New sockets in each flat, sky q to each, new dish and wiring. The only thing we are now waiting on is to change the copper to fibre .  But , having done all this the system is the worst it's been. But I will try your suggestions . Thanks

None of that has any effect on the local wireless environment.

Edit: actually, multiple Sky Q installations in close proximity may well make things rather worse: where Sky is the ISP, each Q box generates its own wireless signal in addition to that from the Hub.
