My Sky Broadband Superfast is £34.50 surely it can't be that much. I have tried getting through to Sky but practically impossible

That could either be the end of the 18th month discounted period or the 8% price increase from april this year
What were you paying before or are you a new customer?

Can't remember previous price but it's advertised at £17.00/Month now but can't get through.

That's the full price for their Superfast Broadband so you're obviously out of minimum term contract.
Be aware that the £17 offer is only until the end of this year, it then jumps up to £34.50 again for the remainder of the 18 months. That averages out to over £27 a month (which will go up the later you leave it).
Go faster with an average download speed of 59Mb/s Now,£17 a month until end of 2023 Then £34.50 a month. 18 month contract. Prices may change. £0 set up fee.

Are you saying the £34.50 that I have been paying is correct then as I have had no discount

That particular offer was £17 'up to the end of 2023' and then £34.50 (the 'normal' list price) for the rest of the minimum term. Subscribers would expect to see the higher amount in bills dated January 2024 onwards.
I'd note that £17 for FTTC over the whole minimum term would not be economically viable for an ISP as their wholesale cost to provide the circuit is more than that.

That is correct. The current 'Black Friday' offer for FTTC to new subscribers is £26pcm for 18 months, reverting to £34.50 after that (although probably higher as there will be an inflationary increase during that period)

All providers (subscription television and broadband) offer discounts to encourage people to 'switch'.
These discounts typically end after the minimum contract period, and the product bundle reverts to 'normal' pricing unless the user either switches again or individually negotiates a better renewal rate with the current supplier.
Only the home and motor insurance industry has a regulation requiring existing customers to qualify for 'new customer' pricing: this doesn't apply in any other business sector.

So why are other people paying a lot less when they get in contact with Sky for the same package I have got they seem to get a reduction in price? £152.00 is very high in my opinion. Maybe other providers will offer a lot less as they DO continually come to my door. I cannot keep affording to pay £152.00 per month with the services I get

Quite possibly. There's no actual fixed price for any Sky service: there's what it costs them to provide service/content, then their profit margin, and then the list price. At any particular point in time they may choose to reduce that margin to gain a new customer or retain an existing one.
Sky is no different from any other ISP (or ISP/television provider) in this respect.

One place to start is go to the Sky website as a non-logged in user, and then build the bundle you have now at new customer pricing. That gives a potential starting point for negotiation, but as I noted above, there's no requirement for Sky to offer 'new customer' pricing to existing users.
