Why is Sky full Fibre 3 times the price of Gigaclear?

We have had Gigaclear Full Fibre in our village for 9 months. Sky have finally caught up and are offering it but Gigaclear £20/month for 400 Mbps Sky £60 for the same speed (£50 for 150 Mbps). Why is Sky so expensive?

@Anonymous  Gigaclear use their own network, Sky uses Openreach.  Gigaclear will no dount be promoting these loss making deals to attract more customers.

Sky pricing, like that of all other Openreach ISPs, is based on what they are paying the national wholesale bandwidth and infrastructure provider, plus their own costs and (preferably) a sustainable profit margin.

Altnet full fibre providers such as Gigaclear, CityFibre and many others are using startup funding, venture capital and private financing to lay their own competing infrastructure and grow customer numbers in limited geographical areas: their current subscription pricing may well not be financially viable long-term.

Any individual Openreach ISP can choose to slash their profit margin (or even make a loss over a minimum term) if they think that's a viable business strategy.
