Why can’t loyal customers get same deals as new customers?

Hi,

I've been with Sky Broadband for 14 years now, but having received my renewal notice I find that the only deal I'm being offered is one that is £3 less than my current one and that's almost £50 a month! How is it that new customers are being offered full fibre deals with over twice my current speed at half the price I would have to pay for a new contract? They say they reward loyalty, but I'm not sure that a saving of £3 a month is anything but an insult - especially in the current cost of living crisis! It's disgusting that current customers are exploited in this way and not given an equal chance of being eligible for the same deals as potential customers!
I don't suppose anyone knows any way to speak to Sky about this without having to call as I'm unable to speak on the phone for more than a few minutes and getting through to Sky on the phone usually takes hours, not minutes! Tried their chat bot, but that couldn't answer my question and pointed me here!
TIA!

@AliP1701 Sky are not alone in offering low prices to get new customers however many of thse are discounts for a limited period. If you are out of contract shop around to see what other isps offer switching is pretty simple but armed with a competitors quote you can sometimes get Sky to offer a discount but you do have to call. Unfortunately the team who take escalations from the forum can't handle sakes.

@AliP1701

Most, if not all providers do this now. From recent posts on here it does seem that decent deals are increasingly hard to find. If you choose to leave the same will happen at the end of your discounted deal with whoever you go with. Once you've been away for 18 months you'll be able to rejoin Sky and benefit from new customer discounts.

If you're being offered a deal lower than your last discount you've done well.

I have the same problem I have gone from £24 a month to £60.00 a month for fibre 80. Advisor told me to go to talk talk as they were good.  Omg I was really shocked to hear this and I have been with sky for 16 years.

They will not renew a deal at all. I am of to Vodafone now same package at £24 a month for me.

@mkderby You must have another service added to you broadband as fibre 75(fibre 80 does not exist on the Sky website) is only £43 a month when out of a discounted period, in fact none of the fibre broadband Sky offer is £60 a month with the highest being Gigabit at £49 a month when out of a discounted period.

It’s the same across the board today.  Look at the insurance industry.  The only way to get a decent deal is to switch each year.  ISPs are now no different to the rest.  “Loyalty” just means you’re a sucker they can milk.  If you want a decent deal, change supplier.

Actually the insurance industry is a rare exception because their regulator specifically requires car and home policies to be offered to existing customers at the same rates as new ones.  Unfortunately Ofcom has no similar power over pricing for broadband or subscription television.

Yes, now it does.  Took them some years and a lot of complaints to learn though, (and even then they're often try to pull a fast-one by working in "extras").  Point is, if people start moving more often the industry will need to sharpen their act.
