Why are sky lying about my Broadband speed

My Sky Broadband test claims Im getting 35mg, my min garantee speed is 32mg. But 6 other speed test programs say Im getting  between 29-30mg . I know somethings not right as my streaming keeps stuttering and that normally happens when my speed drops to less than 30mg. somehow I feel the Sky broadband speed test is rigged to show a sppeed greater than the MSG in order to to refuse investigation.  Superfast should be over 30mg and I feel Sky are lying when they say you have Superfast broadband.

Hi @FBadger

The Sky test shows the line's sync speed to your router. This often will be a constant value and represents what speed your router is seeing from your local cabinet.

The speedtest you complete is the speed that reaches your actual device. This can often be a little slower due to network overheads, WiFi interference or multiple devices using your bandwidth at the same time.

If you want an accurate value of what speed your router is providing you then you will need to disonnect all of your devices from the router, then connect a single device via ethernet to the router and complete a speedtest on speedtest.net

Re: Why are sky lying about my Broadband speed

So Sky are measuring something different to everyone else, so they are lying and are rigging the speed test. How very convenient that there test shows a higher speed despite you not able to achieve it.

So its just a con to get you to sign up, then its too late because you must use there test and by using there test theres never a speed issue so you cant get a fix.

Im testing with wifi turned off and only my PC cable connected to the Sky router (again a pile of brown stuff with only 2 ports)

No they are not lying or rigging the test, they are showing the line speed to your router which is what you pay for. Every single ISP does the same thing when checking the speed on your line not just Sky.

Please post your router stats and then a screenshot of the completed speedtest
