Which alternative router to sky max FTTP/ONT

looking to change my sky max router to something else

1. I have SKY fttp (ONT)

2. Would still like to use the landline

which router is best and allow me to do that or if I want to use land line am I tied to sky hub max?

Yes.  You can potentially use another router behind the Sky Hub though.
