WhatsApp re free upgrade, replied but heard it'll start charging us after a while

Got the blue tick WhatsApp. Replied yes, received emails from sky and Openreach re the date for installation,  however have heard that this isn't actually free and is a free trial which will start charging me eventually , help ! As always cant find a phone number

Clearly it isn't a 'trial' because they aren't going to take the fibre away and revert the connection to an (obsolete) metallic circuit..

 

You will be paying FTTP pricing going forward from the end of your current contract, because that's the connection you'll have: before then you keep the current monthly cost.

 

It's the work associated with the physical migration from copper to optical which doesn't have an up-front cost: the broadband service itself requires a subscription
