What is involved outside my property for FULL FIBRE INSTALLATION

I have been offered the free upgrade to the Full Fibre.

I have recently had the house rendered and a new drive.

Whats is acually involved outside ?

Will they dig a trench in my drive and drill through my lovely new render?

Can they go in through the side of the house (that isnt rendered) ?

Cheers TYIA

@red+daze

So it looks like you will have an overhead feed (OH Feed) which means the cable will come from a pole and attach to your wall/fascia/soffit. The cable will then be drilled through the wall into your home.

On the day of install if you are uncomfortable with any cabling being attached or holes drilled through your render you can express this to the engineer and they will try and find a solution. If a solution can be not be agreed on then you can cancel the install without penalty.

Hi @red+daze

That depends on what infrastructure is already in place on your street. If you have poles in use then the cable will come from there and attach to your wall or facias/soffits then be drilled through, however if you express to the engineer on the day that you would prefer the hole be drilled on the side of the house then they may be able to run the cable around to the side first. It is likely though that you'd have a cable running along the front of your render.

If your cabling currently comes from underground, it would depend if there is already a duct in place to bring the cable through to your home. If there isnt a duct then its likely your drive/garden would need to be dug up for the install.

If you do @GD1 has mentioned then we would be able to possibly tell what kind of install it will be.

Re: What is involved outside my property for FULL FIBRE INSTALLATION

Thats great information thank you thank you.

I am a little concerned as they (SKY) say there is a £35 cancellation fee on the day or 1  day before. Is this correct?

@red+daze

The cancellation fee is if you outright cancel the appointment before the engineer arrives e.g. if you weren't home.

If the engineer attends and can't find a suitable install method that you agree with then you can reject the install and for that there is no fee.
