Last week I received what has to be the weirdest letter ever written. Reckon it wasn't written by a human being!! It's regarding the sky hub I've got, it's old and will no longer receive service or security updates. The letter tells me to go to my "portal" whatever that is and review my options. When I look at my account or the Sky website as a whole, there are no links whatsoever and no help provided either. I'm considering ditching the Sky broadband and just using Freeview which, although old, is reliable.

It's a genuine letter. I changed my Sky Q hub after receiving a similar email.
There should be a URL quoted at the foot of the letter. When you go to this, there's a dropdown option to change your hub…
Take a look at your options:
Change your hub
Keep your hub and change your hub admin password
Switch to Full Fibre broadband
Add Sky WiFi Max
Here's the legal bit
If that doesn't work you'll need to call Sky to arrange it.

Re: Weird letter regarding hub and security updates not being available any longer
The relevant URL is
sky.com/skyhuboptions
Some of us have posted in the Superuser forum to draw the attention of our contacts in Sky to the rather opaque language used in that letter and similar emails, but unfortunately their ability to influence other parts of the business is necessarily limited.
Perhaps worth noting that broadcast Freeview will ultimately be replaced by the Freely streaming service because UK government would rather like that part of the RF spectrum back to sell it off (and masts cost an alarming amount of money ; )
