Weak Router

My IPhone etc does not detect my Sky Router immediately outside my house but can detect neighbours routers, both Sky and BT. I recently moved to Sky from BT and the BT router was detectable all along the street. The Sky router is situated in the same place as the BT Router was. Why such a weak signal?

The range of 5Ghz is short only about 10-20 metres, and the range of 2.4Ghz is greater unless another wireless router closer to you when outside is popping out a better signal then you likely won't see your own Sky Hub wireless network, unfortunaility. The Sky Hubs are not the best wireless routers around they provide this FOC and ISP routers are usually mass production and cheap.

Do you have a Q Hub (horizontal) or a Sky Broadband Hub (vertical)?

The Sky Broadband Hub has rather better wireless performance.

Why would you want your signal to be picked up all the way down the street? No ISP is going to guarantee or care whether your router is producing a signal that can reach down the street or not.

Ah yes sorry my mistake I am sure many people want to use their WiFi connection while leaving in a helicopter from their back garden. Or perhaps they want to use it while driving down the motorway on the way to their hols?
