Just recently moved into a new property and was forced to upgrade from standard copper Sky Broadband to the Sky Fibre FTTP setup. I have a particular network setup utilising a Draytek Vigor 2762n that I'd like to continue using instead of the Sky supplied SR203 hub but for the life of me I can't get the Draytek to connect.
The FTTP box connects to port 4 on the Draytek, I have option 61 set up with my details scraped from Wireshark (I know it's not necassary but I've been trying everything). Using WAN2 with the Static / Dynamic IP Address option with all settings as default to obtain a dynamic IP from Sky but it just won't connect.
Everything seems correct as per Drayteks website here https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/kb-fttp-wan-setup
But when I look at this compatibility list it says I need a separate modem (eg: Vigor 130) https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/sky-fibre-setup-guide#compatibility-list
So I'm confused on whether the 2762n can connect on its own and I'm doing something wrong or whether I need something else to go along with it (in which case I'll look at using the Sky hub in a semi-bridged setup?)

One should enable WAN2 by ticking the port, connecting the ONT to WAN2, and disabling the VLAN tag. Everything else looks good. Remember when you swap over the router you should leave the ONT and router off for half an hour before reapplying power.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@ElisamUK there is no need for a separate modem for a Sky FTTP servicecwhere the Openreach ONT unit is effectively filling that role. Modems as such are only required for FTTC products delivered over copper. You are right you definitely dont need a specific log in the standard string Sky require for DHCPv4 Option61 authentication is in the form anything@skydsl|anything.
I suggest you post the set up screens on the Draytek so forum members can check the settings.

Thank you for the response @Chrisee
Have attached the different setup areas on the Draytek after following the previously mentioned guides. The only thing not pictured is the Openreach FTTP box connected to Port 4 on the Draytek via ethernet which is apparently the required port to use.
Image 1: Option 61 setup for WAN 2
Image 2: WAN 2 Dynamic IP settings, essentially kept default and set to obtain IP automatically
Image 3: WAN 2 has Static/Dynamic IP access mode
Image 4: WAN 2 setup. I've tried both with Tag value 101 and no tag
Image 5: WAN 2 is enabled and the active option
Hoping someone can help!

For some reason Image 2 didn't upload for the Dynamic IP settings

I am not an expert on this router but hopefully someone can check these for you @mae-3 any ideas?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreLooks like you've still got WAN1 configured as VDSL so guessing that was your old config? If so you need to enable WAN2 and configure WANoE on it.

@mae-3 Wasn't aware I need to power off the ONT on switching routers so will give this a try!
On your instruction to tick the WAN2 port, in which part do you mean? If the screen for setting up Option 61 these boxes just appear to be for when setting up new options as WAN1 is always selected by default in the screen. Current entry is for WAN2. Or have I misunderstood this screen possibly?

One must tick the WAN2 on this screen for DHCP Option 61 to be active on the port:-

@mae-3 Appreciate you clarifying! Will test this along with the power cycle and hopefully this solves it

@mae-3 Disabling VLAN tags and power cycling the ONT & Router did the job. Fully connected and even getting faster speeds than the Sky supplied router. Really appreciate your help on solving this!

Hi, ive just got a Vigor 2862n router as a replacement for my Sky Q hub.
To begin with, I have very little knowledge of networks or Draytek router configuring but, Incan usually follow guides and work out how to get things up and running.
I dont have fibre yet as we cant get that right now and on Sky super fast copper where im getting 40mbps download and 8mbps upload, ive asked and thats the best we can get here.
Can anyone help on how to configure a 2762n router so I can use it please. Where im stuck is I keep seeing quotes about option 61 but I cant find a way or see where to input that into the router and to be honest, I dont even knownwhat that means. Ive got into the routers configurations following the Draytek set up guide but that only seems to get me so far then im kind of on my own.
I know its a bit silly for a novice to try and do this but, its kind of my last resort as im getting terrible buffering on my audiophile streamer and im sure its the Sky hub causing the issue.
Thanks,
Dan.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIn the WAN settings there should be a box called DHCP Option 61. In that box you need to type abc123@skydsl|abc123
Make sure WAN is set to auto obtain a public IP and you should be good to go.
