Ultrafast max is a Sky Ireland branding so the setup is different to the uk.  Could you confirm if you're in ireland or the uk

@WhackyZack

In Ireland sky use pppoe instead of dhcp 61 client identifier for authentication

Plug the asus directly into the ont and set up pppoe as connection type

Type in

Username      anything@skydsl

Password       anything

Set vlan id to 10

Set MTU to 1500 or accept default 1492

Re: Want to replace SKY Router with ASUS RT-AX58U FTTP User

Thank you @cookiemonsteruk appreciate the help.

Will try that set up tomorrow.

I've read mixed reviews about the Sky SR203 and it's limitations, hence the purchase of the ASUS RT-AX58U.

They've told me I could expect speeds up to 1000mbps .

But being it might not reach those speeds and thought the Asus router could help

Re: Want to replace SKY Router with ASUS RT-AX58U FTTP User

Have had my fibre connected today , trying to go through the steps on how to access is through the ASUS RT-AX58U , have set up

Username : anything@skydsl

Password : anything

Have set MTU at 1492

Can't find vlan id in menu.

I'm in Ireland and it's set to pppoe.

What steps am I missing ?

Please bear in mind I'm a total novice to all of this and struggling to navigate allemus and sub menus

Thanks

Re: Want to replace SKY Router with ASUS RT-AX58U FTTP User

Hopefully these screenshots help show the currrent settings. Should dhcp be disabled considering ireland operates on pppoe ?

Doesn't seem to be a Vlan option in Lan settings.

Also current status is displaying disconnected. Not sure how near or far I am from gaining connection

Thanks
