Want to change sky router to a net gear nighthawk r7000

Hi

looking to remove my sky router and replace it with my net gear nighthawk r7000 as having lots of issues with the sky router lagging constantly. We are a family of gamers and the constantly having to ban sons from their Xbox's from them raging is doing my head in.
I've got it currently plugged into the sky router and I get a way better reception and soeed in the house but want to remove the sky one as it only gets 256mb speeds and I'm on giga fast

can anyone help with step by step instructions please

thanks 🙏

@Pillowking I have no direct experience of connecting a Nighthawk R7000 to a Sky FTTP service but given most Netgear routers support DHCPv4 Option 61 that Sky use then it should connect. The log on is in the form anything@skydsl as user and any string as the pasword

As keen gamers you will know that wifi is not the best connection with Ethernet being far better.

Thanks for the reply

I did try just plugging straight into new router but don't know how to change the id and password so it logs into sky ok

and yeah but kids are upstairs and don't want to rip holes in ceilings and walls running Ethernet cables wife would kill me lol 😂

@Pillowking if you search you should see thecsettings for your hub. Powerline adapters that use your mainsxwiring are a good second best to ethernet in most homes.

@Pillowking

The connection type should be set to Automatic IP and you should fill in the DHCP Option 61 field in the WAN area.
