Waiting on a date for civils visit

Got the BroadBand ordered two weeks ago, last week a technician came out to my house and thought it would be an easy job, he told me it needs a civil to scan the ground and dig up a conduit to bring it into my home. Since then I've heard nothing about another person coming out from sky or an engineer, called and was on hold for ages and ultimately told they have no idea and to just wait... I'd like to have some idea of what's going on as I am desperate to get this connected for work and study means. If sky takes their sweet time am I able to cancel my services completely and look elsewhere?

Sky and other similar ISPs don't do 'civils' work: that has to be Openreach or an Openreach subcontractor in the UK and their equivalent in RoI.

Any digging up of the road or pavement needs council permission which Openreach will have to request before work can start ~ and they have to have a crew available.

They also explained that SIRO connection is possible through the esb ducting along the pathway. Which it wouldn't require civils in that situation, only a technician with the SIRO equipment. Can I ask them for that option or no? Whichever is faster

OK, so that's RoI, of which there's much less experience in this forum.

You need to be proactive and call Sky Ireland when the lines open and ask them if they have an update.
