Waited 8 weeks for engineer who didn’t turn up.

I've waited 8 weeks for an engineer , had a day off work - problem is it seems he did too. Not a word from sky. Not a word. Garbage

Depending on why you were having a visit it could have been an Openreach engineer. There are delays with appointments for repairs or installations due to recent industrial action they've been taking. Give Sky a call and see if you can get an update.
