WILD VARIATIONS IN UPLOAD SPEED BUT DOWNLOAD FINE
Evert time I test my upload speed I get a different result when I was with sky years ago on the same service I was getting 2mb a second upload and I was when I joined 2-3 weeks ago but now I am getting like 2/300 k a second., When I test, first I got 1mb a second then I was getting 650k a second. I am sure I am beyond the "first 2 weeks" now?
When I try the sky tester it says everything is fine. I am on the superfast broadband serrvice I am sure it is a 2mb upload service can anyone confirm this for me.
Thanks!

Re: WILD VARIATIONS IN UPLOAD SPEED BUT DOWNLOAD FINE
Now it's went back up and my upload will complete in 22mins whereas it was 1 hour 30 odd minutes before and I tried it twice so it is definently varying all over the place lol

@Sugarplumkid You must be on an old ADSL line far away from the exchange with those reported upload speeds, so really it is what it is on that type off connection!

Re: WILD VARIATIONS IN UPLOAD SPEED BUT DOWNLOAD FINE
Thanks for the quick reply bud but no it's the opposite I am just half a mile from the exchange and I was with sky before and the service was 100% amazing that's why I came back here.
If I stop and start these uploads I finally get the proper speed but it's a nusiance to have to do that. I have a youtube channel so I upload quite a lot and the difference between sky and other ISP's is that sky distributes my bandwidth out properly whereas any isp who runs on the BT network, for example, the internet grounds to a halt if I am uploading as it's as if you are using the whole 7/8 mb bandwidth whereas you are only using a max of 2mb. Even streaming starts to buffer buffer buffer. It was great to come back to sky and be able to upload and the rest of your bandwidth was still available to you!

@Sugarplumkid What is the speed package that you are on from sky, there is no guaranteed upload speed no matter what from any ISP, would run the service checker and the diagnostic against your line just in case you have a fault on it!

First thing I done and it simply said no faults were detected and directed me here. I was on a steady 2.2mb per second upload speed from BT but with the caveats I mentioned.

Re: WILD VARIATIONS IN UPLOAD SPEED BUT DOWNLOAD FINE
As a rough guide, upload on FTTC should be about 25% of download: the wholesale bands are 40/10 and 80/20 Mbs.
There are fault conditions and line optimisation which will sacrifice upload to benefit download though, because that's what the majority of users need more.
