Video dropping out wifi signal
I joined sky and was activated 7 days ago.
I have Sky Max Hub and full fiber 500 package.
I am experiencing poor video calls with freezing and dropping out.
- I tested the speed at this time and was around 80-100 download mbps.
- I cannot move the router as is fixed to the open reach box under the stairs in small cupboard of new build house (small 4 bed house with router in centre area of house downstairs).
- I moved rooms as close as possible to router but still had issues.
- I have a smart tv connected along with 2 mobiles and an iPad but no streaming taking place at time of issue. The smart tv speed test shows around 70mbps connection but streams Netflix etc ok - not the fastest but possibly acceptable (unsure if tv isn’t the best even though brand new or whether this js a wifi signal issue).
I read that the first 2 weeks can be temperamental due to sky testing the line etc, but surely I should be able to perform simple video calls (as I have done for years) via laptop with full fibre 500!?

Re: Video dropping out wifi signal
@Jon153 The 2 week thing is something of the past as that was used for copper only lines and fibre to the cabinet connections. If these devices are all connected via Wi-Fi that you are having issues with, then if you have the max broadband subscription you can ask Sky to send you out a booster pod. If you need more than one then an engineer will have to come out and install them in the bes places for coverage over the property.
If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.
