Very slow internet speed ONLY on PC - Phone connection is fine

Hi,

 

I have been getting 3-10 mbps WiFi connection from the router to my computer consistently for a while now. If I reboot or factory reset the router, it goes up to ~60mbps and then quickly goes back down to the throttled speed again (after like 10-30 minutes). My phone however gets full speed WiFi in the exact same place in the house. The sky diagnostic broadband test read the connection working fine. I have changed my computer's WiFi Card to no avail. If I use my phone as a hotspot to send the WiFi signal to my computer, I also get full speed WiFi. I am unable to update the router's firmware as it seems Sky have stopped automatically updating it and I don't know how to manually do it.

 

Any ideas?

@Internetnowork updates for your PC have nothing to do with Sky they are down to Microsoft if it is running Windows. Depending on the version of Windows it runs MS may have withdrawn support. Currently they only support Windows 10 and 11 and support for 10 ends in October this year. 

One cause of the slow down could be thst the machine is running malware which is using the bandwidth. If you are running an unsupported version of windows that is a distinct risk. A program called Malware Bytes is a useful way to check and delete malware the intial use is free.
