Very Poor Wifi Download speed but fine at the Cat 5e cable into the SR203 router
Hi all,
I have Sky Full Fibre, an SR203 router and a white booster box. Ever since I changed to fibre, Broadband is a long distance happily reliable memory.
I am meant to have a reliable 600 Mps download speed to a max of 900 Mps (how I laugh). Constant speed testing throughout the day and load on the network barely reaches 300 and often seen at around 150. I have tested the speed using the Cat 5e cable and the results are find (missing the router). The cable cable is in the correct router socket. Sky have supplied me with a replacement router and cable. No equipment has moved since the change and I get a very inconsistent connection for money and type of connection I pay for.
Annoyingly, the speed is fine the wall socket, so online tech people cannot identify the issue. The minimum speeds are not being seen in the WiFi network. I am more than happy to leave for EE at the moment but there is no point if the issue is with the wider fibre infrastructure.
Any suggestions other than purchasing a replacement router at my own expense to replace the recently replaced Sky device.
I hope someone can offer some guidance.
DT

Hi @DT5150
Sorry I am struggling to understand the exact problem here. Are your wired speeds fine but WiFi speeds not? Are you able to post a screenshot of a speedtest taken while connected to ethernet?

Was this test done next to the router? The speed does seem low.
Do you get similar speeds if your booster is disconnected?

This would be a typical speed anywhere in the house.
This is the wired speed from wall to computer.

The wired speed looks good so I dont see why you are getting such a drop on the WiFi speed.
How many devices are connected via ethernet? Are you using any 3rd party boosters?

Re: Very Poor Wifi Download speed but fine at the Cat 5e cable into the SR203 router
This WiFi speed is fairly typical whether one device or several are using the bandwidth. I have been taking screen shots on a regular basis at different times and load on the network. The booster is a white Sky device.
I shall contact Sky again and ask for a site visit for an assessment.
