Hi all,
I have read that TP-Link routers have not always worked nicely together with Sky broadband due to Sky's DHCP Option 61 requirement (the Client ID authentication that is pinged across). But with newer firmware out and time has passed I am wondering whether that has changed at all?
I was thinking about buying a TP-Link Archer AX11000 router and hooking it up to my Sky Gigafast internet via the OpenReach box that the Sky Hub usually plugs into here in the U.K.
I know previously I was advised that I'd be better off purchasing an ASUS router which would far more likely have better compatibility, but wondering if this is still the case?
Any advice would be grateful, and would be a bonus if anyone has the same router and Sky package and can confirm they work great together.
Thanks in advance!
Dayley

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Dayley not aware thst. TP-Link have added DHCPv4 Option61 to their router firmware. Some users have reportedcsuccess using the alternative DHCPv6 PD method but thst requires the exchange equipment offering support which the majority do but some dont. Asus units can be connected using either system.

Ah okay, thanks for the update and fast response. What would you suggest? Should I switch to something like an ASUS router which could eliminate this issue?
The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 looks to be a good alternative or NETGEAR Nighthawk RAXE500 possibly. Has anyone had experience with either of these with Sky Gigsfast?

The RAXE500 doesn't have opt61 either, however the RAX70 does, as I've used one.

I'm beginning to see why ASUS was previously recommended.
Okay, and thanks for the advice.
