Good morning,
I just got SKY broadband installed along with SKY HUB. I have full fibre with SIRO in Ireland.
I have so many questions.
Please bear with me.
1) can we access the settings on the SKY hub?
2) When I'm upstairs it seems to default to a saturated 2.4GHz band which gives 90 Mbps then when I come downstairs it doesn't jump back to the 5Ghz so i'm stuck with 90 Mbps. It is possible to switch the 2.4Ghz off?
3) I have an ASUS RT-AC3200 router that ideally i'd prefer to use instead of the HUB. Can I just swap them over or do I have special settings so that it acts as the SKY hub?
4) Otherwise I plan to run an ethernet cable upstairs using the old aerial run which I have no need for can I run my router in Bridge mode?
5) When I'm next to sky hub I only get 450 Mbps on my phone or Ipad. However when I plug directly into ethernet I get 950-980 solid. Why don't I get this on the wifi right next to the hub?
Thanks for any and all help.

1) can we access the settings on the SKY hub? Depending on the hub you have but the black hubs can be controlled using their web interface at 192.168.0.1 sign in with user admin and the default wifi password. The white hubs use the My Sky app
2) When I'm upstairs it seems to default to a saturated 2.4GHz band which gives 90 Mbps then when I come downstairs it doesn't jump back to the 5Ghz so i'm stuck with 90 Mbps. It is possible to switch the 2.4Ghz off? The 2.4GHz band has longer range so turning it off is pointless as the 5GHz band will probsbly be out of range
3) I have an ASUS RT-AC3200 router that ideally i'd prefer to use instead of the HUB. Can I just swap them over or do I have special settings so that it acts as the SKY hub? Yes you can and the Asus should connect with the user anything@skydsl and any random string as the password
4) Otherwise I plan to run an ethernet cable upstairs using the old aerial run which I have no need for can I run my router in Bridge mode? Yes thst should work if in bridge mode
5) When I'm next to sky hub I only get 450 Mbps on my phone or Ipad. However when I plug directly into ethernet I get 950-980 solid. Why don't I get this on the wifi right next to the hub? Because it is likely you have a black Sky hub which is a WiFi5 device, Given virtually no domestic activity can fully use 500Mb/s it isn't anything yonstress over
Thanks for any and all help.

Re: Using Broadband router ASUS RT-AC3200 instead of SKY HUB or even as a wireless bridge
Many thanks for the quick reply.
Regarding the sky hub.
I choose the best service possible it seems strange to not have the latest box.
I would have expected gig wifi as well.
Strange to give a new customer old tech.

Re: Using Broadband router ASUS RT-AC3200 instead of SKY HUB or even as a wireless bridge
@Morganno Sky dont give customers the choice but recently they appeared to be short of the newer hubs so left customers upgrading to 500 or 900Mb/s with the black SR203 hubs. Honestly it makes little or no practical difference as the only time customers get close to using their full bandwidth is when running speed tests.
