Upgrading to sky fibre - existing Google Wifi is flawless - will it remain so?
Hi there.
The local network has just been upgraded to fibre and sky have been in touch to upgrade us to sky fibre 100.
I understand this will require an access point in the property, all good.
But today we used Google WiFi with our SR203 router. WiFi on the router is switched off, and it's connected to a Gwifi unit which works flawlessly with other 3 other Gwifi units across the house for the mesh network. We've got SkyQ too and the 2 mini boxes are each wired into a Gwifi unit so that there's minimal interference. It works.
So when I get the fibre installed, presumably it 'should' all still work if I continue to have the WiFi disabled on the sky router?
Thanks in advance.

Today we USE, not 'used'. Been using this set up for years. 🙂

@BBG81 the upgrade to full fibre may or msy not come with a new Sky hub but even if it does simply turn off its WiFi and connect your Google system as long as those units are not moved the wifi coverage shouldn't change. If the entry point of the service changes which can happen at worst you would need a longer ethernet cable.

@BBG81 Just keep your SR203 hub, DSL cable goes, Ethernet replacement is sent connect Port 4 (WAN) on the hub to your new ONT for the Fibre, and good to go, only the ONT placement to the SR203 position is what you have to worry about currently! Sky give you a short 2M RJ45 to connect them both!

Superb, thank you for the replies. Yes I've literally just had a text about a 'conversion kit 3' so googled it and I've read the ethernet lead is described as short. I've a few knocking about anyway, I'll make sure they're up to spec.
Thanks again.
