Upgrading to Sky WiFi Max Hub due to Black hub bug.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I'll ask anyway;

I'm on Sky Full Fibre Gigafast and the Black router connects at full speed, additionally if i do a speedtest on a device connected via ethernet I also get basically full speed, 900+.  However......

I have Sky Q and then 3 Sky Mini-boxes around the house. I have good wifi in each room, but the Mini-boxes tend to stutter over WiFi.  So I've ethernet'd them up and they are far better.  The next however.....

There's a known bug that when Q devices are connected via ethernet then the sky router limits the ethernet speed limit and I max out at 300Mbps instead of 900.  Wifi can acheive better speeds.

Most of the house is wired up and I have a NAS with full Blu Ray rips upstairs and ethernet to Apple TV in the lounge.

I'd like to get my ethernet speed back up to 900 from 300 but of course keeping the Mini Q's working well.

I know I could pay £8pm for the WiFi Max service, but I just really need the white router without the subscritpion and that seems wrong when it's a bug in the sky kit.

So to the question.  There are many white sky routers on eBay, but as the port forwarding etc functions can only be accessed via the MySky app and bot via the normal router web page, would Sky enable the white router on my account?

99.9% sure the answer will be 'No'.

You are correct: Max Hubs on eBay have effectively been stolen from Sky, so they aren't exactly going to be eager to facilitate their use.

Yeah I assumed as much.

I've tried explaining the issue to Sky and even through a complaint but they dont understand the problem and just offer wifi extenders as the solution.  It's furstrating.  I know they can provide the white router without the £8pm sub but getting to the right person to undersand the issue to get to that resolution is impossible.

@reddwarfcrew the issue is not necessarily thst the agent does not understand the issue but that the system does not allow a hub swap without buying WiFi Max. Sky's systems are quite inflexiblevand almost impissible yo over ride. The most sensible switch would seem to buy a third party router and use that.

Assume you are aware thst by swapping out the SR203 you will lose the use of the Q boxes wifi hotspots for your non-Sky devices.

Yeah I already have the wifi hotspots switched off on the Q's to actually improve things.  My WiFi per room is fine as I use EEROs.  Problem is that with EEROs you still need the sky router to authenticate with the network.

Annoyingly when I last re-signed my contract, new customers to gigafast actually got the white router but it wasnt provided to existing customers re-contracting.

Of course, switching out from a Sky Router does lose the IP Phone service.
