Hi. I am currently staying with family and I am helping them get there Sky up to date. They're still on the old Sky Broadband Unlimited (11mb/s) but it shows Superfast (59mb/s) is available at their address and it's actually cheaper than now. My question is how the remote activation works exactly ? I know there will be an activation day but when on the day will it be and does it mean the internet won't work for parts of the day? Thank you!

Depending what hub you have at the minute ie if you have the old chunky vertical sr102 hub you should get the newer er115 horizontal model which will compatible with the old adsl line until the switch/activation date which as mentioned can take up to midnight on the evening of activation

With reference to 59Mbps , that is usually a national average
Enter your families full postal address below and post the table after removing their details from the image for a more accurate speed

Thanks. I am not wondering if the speed is available at the address. I know it is.
I just want to know how the changeover works? Do I get a new hub/router ? Do I have to wait until the mentioned activation date to plug it in or can I connect it a couple days before? Will the internet work at all times or will there be a time on the activation date that it'll switch off? Thank you!

Thanks. Yes they have the old vertikal sr102. Can I already plug in the new router when it arrives (will
it work?!) or do I have to wait until I get a message from Sky on the activation day to change to the new router?
Since I'm doing it for some family members and it's not my own home I just want to make sure I understand everything correctly before I order the upgrade and cause any trouble to their connection. Thank you!!

Sky always advise to wait until the line is activated before plugging in the new hub. But as its backward compatible with the old sky adsl 11Mbps line personally i don't see any harm being caused
