Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

Hi there, can anyone help please. Just been upgraded to fibre. Since the switchover yesterday my cctv will not work.

I have turned everything off and on again with no joy.

Is there any settings in the router that might need to be changed? And if so how would I do this?

Thank you for any help. The installer said everything would work the same and I wouldn't need to do anything.

@Casbantam Do you have the same sky Hub, but now just connected on the ONT for a wan Fibre connection, same hub no difference to the unit, it's the same ssid/password so should all connect as before!

Hi JimM1.

Yes same router as before. Same password etc. Not very technical sorry but was reading it could be to do with the Ghz on older devices.

I had a look at the router settings but couldn't fathom what I was doing so left alone.

Re: Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

@Casbantam Then there is no change it's the same sky hub with the same sky password.... With the Fibre ONT install did the hub move by far, my ONT is up in mt loft space, but the main sky Hub was in the exact same position as before the changeover, i run my own cable to it nothing else, and every single device connected no issue!

The only thing that jumps to mind is that the CCTV connection is to far away from a camera wireless wifi connection that is possible if the sky hub moved to one end off the buiding and not central location!

Re: Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

@Casbantam You CCTV box and the Tp-Link are they powerline connection, the only thing i did with the SR203 is set it to WANoE direct instead off Auto connection to move it off the DSL, Lan port 4 off the hub becomes a wan only connection at that point, leaving Lan 1,2,3 on the hub only, all connections on the lan were as before! Pc was on Lan1. switch was on Lan 2, and a powerline 100Mb was on Lan3, 4 was never used prior to that point!

Might be worth a restart on your cctv box incase something got confused!

Re: Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

Thank you JimM1 for the detailed reply.

I have tried restarting everything a couple of times with no luck. Unfortunately it's gone a bit over my head though as not very technical.

I will try contact my cctv installer next week to see if they can resolve this for me.

Again, many thanks for the reply

Re: Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

So to update.....

This morning I swapped the cat5 ethernet cable that connects the downstairs tp link to the router to cat6.

The cctv cameras came live on my phone for for a minute or so albeit a bit slow to load and buffer.

Do you think this could indicate a connection/signal issue? Is it worth me changing to Cat6 upstairs and downstairs to see if this makes a difference?

Re: Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

@Casbantam You need to say what your Tp-Link is, you just cannot have the Forum guessing it just does not work like that, so i use the Tp-Link TL-PA4010 Kit, the 7010 Kit since one off the 4010's died after 6 years and obsolete now and will not but 2nd hand, WPA4220 TKit also so real mix and match!

Nothing to do with cables, but have a look on the back off your SR203, Green or Orange LHS light at the Ethernet connection!

Re: Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

@Casbantam Sky Broadband Hub, black upright has 4 lights on it, power, internet wifi and voice! See the link for pictures below! And your Tp-Link is good, with 3 lights, you have that both sides on each unit?

If you goto http:// 192.168.0.1 will take you to the hub manager, connected devices will show you what is connected, just take out the space between the / and the 1, need that to get it through the filters! You should see the IP associated with you CCTV box with it's mac address...

Are you sure it's not your CCTV software on your mobile not letting you see the connection especially the IP for local?

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-which-sky-hub

My unit similar model but not the same, shows my connected device vusolo2 which is my Sat box connected on the Ethernet! They will sometimes show up but the SR203 attached devices can be a little flaky at times! But pinging the IP for the CCTV box will get you there if you know it's IP.

May also be worth powering down your Tp's just in case you need to shake them back into life, but you really need to look on the back off that hub, especially if they have lights at the cable connection point from your Tp to the Hub!

Re: Upgraded to fibre now cctv wont work

Sorted JimM1

The tplink downstairs was originally in the socket next to the fibre box. I moved it to the far left socket and now no more connection issues.

I would have thought that the Openreach installer would have seen the setup and thought it may have been a problem?

Anyway an easy and cost free fix in the end is a good result.

Hopefully others may read this and find the same solution from the same problem.

  • Thank you

@Casbantam was the Sky hub changed? Simply switching from partial to full fibre should not cause any issues but changing the Sky hub msy. If the hub was swapped canyou confirm the colour of the new unit.
