Upgrade to full fibre

WhatsApp received to say we're eligible for full fibre and engineer provisionally booked with options to accept / decline but no facility to ask quesions!

1.  Does this involve digging up our drive?

2. Will the connection be to where the old landline connection came into the property or can it be connected to where the router is located?

@Bird88

So the important line is 'UG Partial Direct in Ground' this suggests that at least part of your install will require direct burial of a fibre cable leading up to you home. This means its likely Openreach will need to dig up either your driveway or lawn to get the cable in.

Hi @Bird88

1. Possibly it completely depends on how the cable is currently routed. If you go to this site and use the 'address checker' then post the resulting table back here we can see what the install process would be.

2. The entry point into the property will depend where the cable comes from. Openreach will usually use the easiest entry point but can run the cable a few meters along the property wall.

Sky Business WhatsApp Legit or Scam?

IMG_2092.png

I received a message from a WhatsApp account that looks like it's a Sky Business account (from number +44 333 759 4811) saying that as a Sky VIP I'm eligible for a full fibre upgrade - is this legitimate? The account has a blue tick, and it says they've provisionally booked an engineer in a month or so and that I have to confirm the date.

Hi @Lara19

Sky do send legitimate communication via Whatsapp, however nobody can be certain on the number you received it from. I would call Sky via official channels and check it is legitimate

@Lara19  From the image it seems legit, it would be an issue if they were posting links to sites other than Sky.com, however all the info contained in the message looks genuine.

I've removed the number from the image originally posted but this is what has been received

Full Fibre WhatsApp Scam

I've just had a very believeable whatsapp from Sky saying that as I'm a Sky VIP I have been given a free upgrade to full fibre and that an engineer is coming.  Couple things felt wrong with this

1. Sky have never used WhatsApp to contact me

2. My Sky sccount and orders are not showing anything.

I've rang Sky to see if this is real or a scam and their rep just told me that they're not offering this service.  Does anyone know if this is real as the rep started off by saying that Sky doesn't offer full fibre and started trying to sell me the service, which instantly lowered my confidence in getting a reliable answer?

@DOFCR Its quite possible its a genuine message as Sky are sending upgrade messages via whatsapp to those eligible. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/full-fibre-broadband-at-no-extra-cost

Re: Sky Business WhatsApp Legit or Scam?

I had a call from someone claiming to be from sky wanting to come and install fibre broadband, told them you could be anybody he said I have your sky tv plan and bb info he started rattling off my tv package still told him I didn't believe him he hung up. I got home contacted sky, gave them the phone number they called me from and the confirmed it wasn't one of their numbers

apparently someone in sky had stolen a lot of customers details and we're trying to get into people's homes and accounts

Re: Sky Business WhatsApp Legit or Scam?

@Daveaddxfg Always advisable to keep the guard up, did the same last week, but also complained although sky Confirmed it was there sales team that had called, just get that on the My Messages section, let the user go have a look see and stop us having to hang on the phone for 30 mins so you can say yah/nah to a cold sky call!
