Unable to use social media via WiFi I.e. when sending receiving messages I have to turn WiFi off

I have to turn off WiFi and use my data when using different apps I.e. 

WhatsApp 

Messenger

or when trying to view photos/pictures or added comments on Facebook

One possible cause is that Sky Broadband Shield is running at its default age level.
