Unable to use remote-access services due to MAP-T request opt-out to public IPv4
Hi folks
I’m experiencing an issue where I can’t use any services that require incoming connections (for example, remote access and hosting software). After some troubleshooting, it appears my broadband connection is using MAP-T, which prevents port forwarding and external connections from functioning correctly.
I understand that MAP-T shares IPv4 addresses between customers, but I’ve read on this forum that it’s possible for Sky’s network team to opt individual connections out of MAP-T and assign a standard public IPv4 address instead.
Could you please escalate my case to the relevant team to review if it’s possible to disable MAP-T on my line? I’ve already confirmed that UPnP and port forwarding are configured correctly on my Sky SR203 router, but incoming connections remain blocked.
I’m not requesting a static IP, just a standard public IPv4 address to restore full remote-access capability.
If you need my account number or line details to investigate, I can send them privately.
Thanks for your help!

@Member1123 Are you sure that you are using the sky Broadband Hub model SR203, if so then you are NOT using MAP-T with that sky Hub!

Re: Unable to use remote-access services due to MAP-T request opt-out to public IPv4
Thanks for your reply!
Yes Jim, I’m definitely using the Sky SR203 Hub on a new Sky Fibre (FTTP) connection. It’s possible that MAP-T is being applied at the network level rather than by the router itself.
Even with correct port forwarding and UPnP settings, all incoming IPv4 connections fail, and external IP checks confirm there’s no true public IPv4 assigned to my line.
Other SR203 users on Sky Fibre have confirmed similar issues and later had MAP-T disabled after escalation, which restored normal port forwarding. Could a Sky moderator please confirm whether MAP-T is active on my connection and whether opting out is possible?
Thanks again for your help.

Re: Unable to use remote-access services due to MAP-T request opt-out to public IPv4
I checked using www.whatismyipaddress.com.
The site shows my public IPv4 as: 94.10.240.xxx
My Sky Hub’s WAN IPv4 address is: 94.10.240.xxx
Could a Sky moderator please confirm whether MAP-T or CGNAT is active on my connection?
If MAP-T is in use, would it be possible for my line to be opted out so I can use standard port forwarding for legitimate incoming-connection services such as remote access or home server hosting?
I am happy to provide my account/line details privately to a moderator if required. Thank you for your assistance!
