Unable to connect to config page (or at all) to Asus ZenWifi AX (XT8) with Sky FTTP (ONT)?

Hi all,

I have recently purchased two Asus AX6600 (XT8) routers (HW Ver 1.0) to replace my SR203 Sky router. I had read a lot of posts on here before attempting anything with them and thought it should be simple.

However, I cannot get either of the XT8s to respond at all. The power LED is lighting up white, green, blue etc., so I know they are working. I have rest them every which way but still no luck.

I have connected one to the Sky router using ethernet and the Sky router is allocating it an IP address - I can see that in my Sky router Attached Devices list. But trying to log in to that IP address, or indeed using http://router.asus.com does not find the XT8 at all - so I cannot even reach the Web GUI to start setting it up to replace the SR203.

Where am I going wrong?

@mae-3 @cookiemonsteruk I have seen your excellent and helpful replies to others - can you help me please?

Cheers.

Darren

@Darren+Payne

When setting it up you would need to connect directly to the Asus router via ethernet, not via the Sky hub.

Thanks James.

I eventually got it working by using the Asus app, setting it to AP only, and then changing the relevant attributes. Set it back to Router mode and all is well.

Any suggestions from the community on what to connect to the 5Ghz band and what to leave on 2.4Ghz?
