Unable to connect reolink camera to WiFi since joining sky

I joined sky on Thursday from BT and so far feel it's been a big mistake but I have to work through all issues one at a time!
I have a reolink dual WiFi camera that is outside attached to garage. It's always worked perfectly with BT using their extender disc. Since install of sky it's not able to pick up WiFi. I called sky and they have put me on sky max and sent a max pod out. Tried to install again but still not connecting to WiFi.
Following all instructions I decided to take all the camera down, no easy feat, and connected to hub using LAN and yay it worked! Disconnected LAN and it also worked in the house. Go back reinstalling to the garage and it's not working again! The max pod showing strong signal, I have 4 bars on my phone next to the garage camera and my devices say I am connected to the pod so why won't the camera pick up signal?! Am I missing some thing of is sky wifi and max pods just pants?! I've already had to arrange an engineer to install a second max pod as I had 2 extender discs with BT for front of house and rear of house. So currently max pod not working for signal to front of house and now have to have an engineer to get WiFi at the rear of the house! Oh why did I move from BT 😢.

Please tell me these pods are better than I'm currently seeing! Is there any thing I can do to get my security camera working?

@Shazzy+Dee The pods are all WiFi5 devices dual band and hidden backhaul to the sky Max hub, if your phone is seeing the wireless wifi signal at the camera location that is good, but who knows if the camera system is as good as your phone for picking up the wifi signal would seem not as you said it is not connected, what BT disk's do you have? The white home hub set or the black complete wireless set?

Hi JimM1

Thank you. The BT system was the black wireless set the most up to date one they released. The discs were just black round discs that plugged in. The camera picked up the BT wifi. I've kept the BT kit for now in case I have to cancel sky as they can't match signal as I had with BT.

Re: Unable to connect reolink camera to WiFi since joining sky

@Shazzy+Dee Two things you can try with the sky Max hub if not already done, the link is below to the info, using your mobile app, turn the wireless securities back from WPA3-T to WPA2-PSK mode, and after that temp switch off the 5Ghz band, connect the camera if it will, once connected then re-enable the 5Ghz frequency at that point! You will find under advanced the securities! Do not think that you will find the pod's will have the signal strength off the disc's especially if they have auto channeled way up the 5Ghz band! But the camera's may just be struggling with the wifi dual channel that the pod is doing if that is what the camera is attaching to!

The complete wifi disk's will only work with the BT Smarthub2 Router and nothing else.

Sky Max change settings link.

@Shazzy+Dee If you have an Android phone, then the app NetSpot on the google play store will show you what the Frequency and the Signal strength and also the Mac address that the phone is connected to at the camera location, it is a Free so do not purchase anything at all if you can use it! You can also plug in your BT disk and then compare what it shows at the same location point! Picture once cleared you should be able to see!

Re: Unable to connect reolink camera to WiFi since joining sky

Thank you ever so much for details and things for me to try.

I will try everything tonight when back from work. I had similar issue getting a Bose smart speaker to attach so maybe this is the same but the max pod complicating it.

I have Apple phone so can't check the details as shown.

Will the BT disc connect to the Sky WiFi? If so I can put that back in the Max pod place and use that!?

Re: Unable to connect reolink camera to WiFi since joining sky

@Shazzy+Dee NO NO NO, the BT disc's will only work with the BT Smarthub2, the sky Max hub will hate them with a vengance! Your BT Router and the disc's where ONLY ever WPA2-PSK so go check the Max first!

Apple devices just do not allow wifi analysers as app's so you need to do something else if you wish to look at the wi-fi!

Re: Unable to connect reolink camera to WiFi since joining sky

I've now switched WiFi off for 5.gh and it's turned off 2.4ghz so I can't get back into my hub WiFi?! How do I switch it all back on? 🙈😩

@Shazzy+Dee Now you have to hold in the wps button, watch the light on the front once it changes let the button go and it will reboot the hub!

Re: Unable to connect reolink camera to WiFi since joining sky

Thankfully I've got it all back! 🤣🤣 It's not a connectivity issue as the camera connected with no changes to setting when I brought it in the house and connected via LAN and then by WiFi. As soon as took back and reinstalled it will not find the network.
it is only 12ft away from the hub and about 8ft from the max pod.

Spoken to Sky this morning as I was going to cancel and go back to BT as that worked! They have advised the max pods can connect as a chain to get the stronger signal to my camera and the engineer that I do have booked will be able to do this so I just have to wait and see if the engineer can sort. 🤷‍♀️

As I'm only allowed 3 max pods not sure how this will work as I may need more than the 3 to get signal throughout the house. 🤨🤔

Re: Unable to connect reolink camera to WiFi since joining sky

@Shazzy+Dee If your distances that you say are correct, then you have way more problems than lack off wi-fi signal, i am sitting 20' away from the nearest wireless wi-fi router at present typing this and with zero wireless wi-fi issues. Even on my old SR/SE combo the units were a good 40' appart and that pair covered the whole home! Wi-fi6 though and mesh is a whole different ball game, and sky Max does throw a few issues out there!
