I have just had sky broadband installed. I logged into router ok (192.168.0.1) using Admin and the password and tried to change the default from Admin (as the router will be used by tenants).
When I clicked apply I got a message saying safari was not connected to the network (it was connected to the router before I clicked apply). The change therefore did not occur.
am I doing something wrong? Do I need to be on a wired connection to change this? I'm using an iPhone and safari.
thanks

There are known issues with Sky routers and Safari browser with changing settings and it would be a good idea to use an alternative browser, eg: Chrome which is available for the iPhone. It would also be wise to use a wired ethernet connection for changing settings but it should work okay with an alternative browser on the iPhone instead of a computer/laptop.

Thanks for your reply. I tried the change on chrome and get the same issue when clicking to apply the new password. I'll give it a go on a wired connection but what a pain that is!

@Mcdryburn in certain circumstances iOS devices & sky routers don't play nice with each other these days, you should have no problems applying any changes when using an Android or windows device 👌

I faced the "exact" same issue today - the password change did not occur as Safari lost connection to the router. However when I restarted the router it lost internet connection, did that happen to you as well? Thanks and apologies as I'm not offering a solution here

Thanks for the info. I was using my iPad to change the Wi-Fi name & password. Safari kept losing connection and the changes could not be made. Switched to my Windows based laptop and it worked.

It does like iOS/Apple apparently. Use a laptop if possible.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreGeneral point if you try to change the wifi password on any router on a device using wifi to connect you will lose the connection when you apply the change - if you think about it you will see why. Reconnect your device by applying the new details in the device's network settings.
Using a wired device makes the whole process simpler but the issue with ios devices still remains where logging in is a pain.
