At the end of the order process, site will not allow me to fill in my email details and then it comes up with technical difficulties message. tried several times with no luck.

I have the exact same issue. I appreciate that for some it is easy to call them but the whole idea of being able to order online and quickly is why they chose to order it that way.
just frustrating you get all the way through the process and it fails.
you try online chat but can't get passed the virtual bot!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Tanyabr the failure is usally caused by the need for the customer to have something explained and then agree to before the order can be placed. What looks to the customer as a simple order can have complications.
It is quite common these days as things are changing with the switch to full fibre, the switch from analogue voice services to digital and new equipment . It is a pain and Sky's systems never tell you why which is something forum superusers raise with the teams who own the process.
