Tote Sport

Hi,

I like to bet at home and I keep having issues with my IP address being out of the UK. Sky has put some blocker on it, rang Sky this evening as I am fed up of this and very helpful agent couldn't help but suggested I post here. If this was a problem across Sky then they would be over run with complaints...

this is the error message I get when I go to Tote ( happens with lots of others)

"It has not been possible to determine your location. If you are within the UK, you can continue to use this site. If you are outside the UK, functionality will be blocked."

my IP currently shows me in London but I am in Manchester...if I turn wifi off I can access the site...

Anyone got any ideas?

so far I have made sure broadband shield is off, reset router, not using a VPN

thanks

@Paulipack14How long are you leaving the router off to get a new IP or are you just resetting the router?

If someone has helped give them Like.

If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

To be assigned a new public IP address the Hub needs to be disconnected for at least half an hour, because Sky (like many ISPs) appears to set a sixty minute lease time.

Unfortunately, Sky only offers dynamic public IP addresses to their customers. These often get bought by Sky and other organizations worldwide but some companies track the allocation incorrectly and don't update their records correctly accordingly.

What you have shown is that Tote Sport is one such company that actions incorrect information about IP addresses belonging to Sky which they may have bought recently or even some time ago and Tote Sport have decided to block the IP range.

As you have found you can turn off the router and get a new public IP address from Sky and if lucky it will work correctly for some time but then you get allocated a new public IP address for whatever reason and it's in an IP range that Tote Sport outfit block and the only real solution is to talk to Tote Sport and get them to solve the situation by not blocking IP ranges incorrectly.
